What I'm Loving Wednesday 9.21.11

Welcome to What I'm Loving Wednesday... which I am getting very good at posting on Thursday... Que Sara, Sara. Here's a list of things that are making me smile this week:

1. Premier week. Hi, my name is Caroline... and I am a TV addict. Are you ready for this... my DVR is recording  FOURTEEN HOURS of television this week. Oh my gosh. I cannot believe I am admitting that on the interweb. But there it is. I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem. But I don't know how to take the next step... you know, getting better. Here's hoping that a lot of the shows are terrible this year and I don't want to watch them anyway. Bleh....

2. Three's Company. Come and knock on our door... that's right. I just quoted a 1970's TV show theme song. Deal with it. But I am excited that we are gaining a roomie today. Robbie is coming to live with us for a month while he does a rotation at Vanderbilt Med. Super pumped to have Robbie in town, even if it does mean that I will become a third wheel to Robbie and Will's relationship for a while.

Besties!!

3. Shopping! So, I received a little gift from a certain fairy godmother recently... money that is only to be used for shopping for fun fall clothes! So pumped. And I will be devoting an entire entry (or two) to my shopping trip. But for now I am excited that I am going this weekend and have been excited all week. I've also been internet "shopping" to see what's out there, what's fun right now, what I will be looking for, etc. Here's a sneak peek:

Fun Skirts and Dresses I've found.

Fun, short brown boots!
4. One Week 'Til Baltimore. I know that I keep talking about it but I'm pumped and I will be there one week from today!

Can't wait for quality time with the Ben Holmans!

5. Girl's night tomorrow! So, Bridesmaids came out on DVD this week and Will is going to the Hog game in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Do you know what that means? Yep, girls night at my house tomorrow to drink wine, have fun and watch Bridesmaids. Cannot. Wait.

Happy Thursday everyone! Even if I am pretending that it's Wednesday in the blogosphere.

What I'm Loving Wednesday - 8.31.11

Where have I been?! It's like I looked up and haven't blogged in a week and a half. I am going to have to figure out when I will do this in order to keep it up. I do not like being a fair-weather fan and I refuse to be a fair-weather blogger. But for now we'll just take it one day at a time. Here's what I am loving this week!

1. Reading. I am trying to constantly remind myself how much I am enjoying reading each night lately. I have been reading Chuck Colson's autobiography (which I think I mentioned several weeks ago - it's long, okay?!) and really like the book. But I also just like that I am not living in front of the TV. Well, that's not entirely true... I read on the couch, which is, in fact, in front of the TV. But I am living in front of the TV while it is OFF. That's the important part. The reason I am trying to really drive this home to my psyche is that right now there really isn't a lot of TV temptation. In a few short weeks, though... it will be a constant fight for me to avoid watching between one and eight shows a night. I really don't think it's a problem for me to watch one or two things each night but when it turns into a situation where I am recording three hours of TV on TWO CHANNELS each night... we have a problem. So, here's hoping I am able to exercise some self control and keep up my more mentally stimulating past time.

2. Will's Sense of Humor. Okay, I know that I could list Will in my Wednesday posts every week but right now I am just appreciating how much he makes me laugh. Here, for example, is the type of marital argument we have:

Last Friday after we saw Crazy, Stupid Love at the theater Will made fun of the Twilight: Breaking Dawn poster.
Me: You can make fun of it but I will see that movie the day it comes out.
Will: You absolutely will not.
Me: Um, I absolutely will.
Will: Look, I don't ask for much of anything but I am honestly asking that you not be one of those people who goes to see that movie the day it opens. (Please note that Will was deadly serious)
Me: Will, this is the one where (SPOILER ALERT) they get married and sleep together and have a little vampire baby! I mean, he breaks the bed on their honeymoon. I am going to see it day one.
Will: I have broken a bed before. But not having sex.
Me: ....um, that is the opposite of cool.
And scene. I love my marriage.

3. Rest. It's almost Labor Day weekend - and we're not doing a thing! I am so looking forward to a little R&R and some house projects that have needed to be done for quite a while. Get excited about a new doorknob on our front door! Haha. It's the little things in life. We are also toying with the idea of putting new shutters on the front of our house. I would LOVE to do that this weekend, too. Ours now are dark green and they are starting to warp and pull away from the house. I have been thinking we would just switch to black but my mom had a great idea to do dark brown and I think that would look great with our orange(ish)-red brick. If anyone has any other fabulous ideas I am open.

4. Football Season! Much to a lot of my friends' disgust I am not one of those people who usually gets super pumped about football season. But this year I really am! I think the Hogs are going to be good and we get to host one of their games here in Music City! Super excited about that! I also think I'll make it to Fayetteville this year for my second home game post-college. Ugh, I have GOT to make it up there more often. Anyway, GO HOGS!!

5. HBO GO. It is a miracle that this new discovery has not ruined my reading stint but I have enjoyed watching movies and some older shows on the iPad and my iPhone. HBO GO is free to HBO subscribers and gives you free access to all the movies that are currently on HBO OnDemand as well as all the shows that have ever been on HBO. Like, every episode of every show. Amazing. Download the app immediately.

Happy happy Wednesday!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday - 8.17.11

Here's what I'm loving this week!

1. Will is home! Praise God!! I am loving having him here for the company, the food (mmm... Parmesan Chicken last night was deeee-lish) and for Dexter to have his playmate back. Also, I just talked to Will on the phone and he was at CostCo. I love that man.

LOVE having this man back on our couch!!
2. Michelle is coming to visit today! She hasn't been to Nashville since Kathleen and I have been living here so we are excited to show her our city and spend a little quality time together. Also, we're eating at a super yummy restaurant that Will and I have never been to since she's coming - added bonus!

Michelle, Kathleen and me at a Yankees game in April.

3. The weather! Not going to say a lot since everyone else in a 500 mile radius is feeling the same way - but thank you Lord for temps in the 80's and 90's (does that make anyone else from Little Rock want to quote the B98.5 slogan?)!

4. Small Group. I was in a small group with my friends here about a year ago and due to schedules, drive time, and general laziness on my part I was not in it for about a year. But I'm back in it and, while it has only been two weeks, I love it already. These girls are amazing and I love each and every one of them!

Just missing Brandi, Mollie and Cameron...

5. Chuck Colson. We are reading Chuck Colson's book Faith in our Sunday school class and I have been totally intrigued by his story. He was one of Nixon's top advisers and he went to prison in the wake of Watergate. He became a Christian in prison and has worked in the ministry and written some really great Christian books since then. I started his autobiography (I am a HUGE autobiography fan - ask anyone who knows me), Born Again,  last week and am really fascinated by it. If you read my last movies post you know that I am somewhat obsessed with Watergate so this book is right up my alley.

That's all for now - Happy Wednesday! The week is half way over!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday - 8.3.11

Happy Wednesday, Everybody! I am back from Arkansas and trying to get through this second to last week with Will still there. So, without further ado... what I am loving this week:

1. Wednesday night dinners. For the last several weeks my Nashville girlfriends and I have been getting together for dinner each Wednesday night. It is such a great time to catch up and eat yummy food. Now, I don't know how long my pocketbook can handle this eating out but when Will gets back and starts to feed me again then we should be back on track. But for now, I am just enjoying growing closer to these girls and getting to know them better and better each week.

2. Tan. Will and I went to the lake this past weekend and it is really sad how much better I feel about myself with a nice little tan. I mean... really sad. I made a decision about a year ago to never go to a tanning bed again. I still use Tan Towels (best. invention. ever. and so much cheaper than spray tanning) but that's not something I do all the time. So, for now I am just enjoying wearing very little makeup and not gagging each time I look in the mirror.

3. Emma Stone. I have been a fan of hers for a while but I saw Crazy Stupid Love with Kathleen last night and was reminded how great she is. She is so funny and gorgeous but is really one of those actresses that I totally feel like I could be best friends with. I am so pumped that she is in The Help (which comes out in a week and a half!) and I actually might see the new Spider Man movie since she's in that, too. MIGHT.

4. My God. He is great. He is constant. He is mine.

Happy Wednesday everyone. See you tomorrow for some movie thoughts!

What I'm Loving Wednesday - 7.27.11

Happy Wednesday. Here's what I am loving so much this week...

1. My Husband. Go ahead... roll your eyes, gag, skip this paragraph. I don't really care. I am obsessing over Will this week. Partly because I haven't seen him in three weeks and finally get to break that streak tomorrow night and partly because he's just worth obsessing over. He is hilarious and such a great husband. Ugh, just love him. Tomorrow is going to be the longest drive to Little Rock of. my. life.

2. Nashville Friends. My awesome friends here have saved me while Will has been out of town. We have gotten to spend so much time together and have had so many meals (since my personal chef hasn't been here - in case you're curious, Will cooks all our meals and I eat like a college student when he's not here). It has just been so great to grow closer to them. Love them!

Some of the girls with Dierks Bentley. After singing on his new album on my birthday. No big deal.

3. Ephesians. This is the book I strive to live by. I love that I can read it in one sitting. I love that it encourages me to be the best version of myself. I love that I always find something else that I really need to work on and I learn something new about God every time I read it. I looked back at my senior yearbook from high school recently and one of my quotes was Ephesians 3:20 which basically says, "God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." How exciting is that! Loved it seven years ago and am still loving it now.

4. Google Reader. I am still loving Google reader. I keep adding new blogs to follow and am loving being able to keep up with and learn about people's lives and their interests. Blogs are such a fun way to keep up with what's going on in your life and in others' lives.
5. Diet Coke Free! I wrote a couple of weeks ago about how I would NEVER be able to give up Diet Coke... well, I haven't had one in about a week and I have only had about three in the last several weeks! Now, I have replaced it with coffee but still! It is a major accomplishment for me to go 7 hours without DC - much less 7 days!

6. It's the end of the day - only one more until I road trip it to LR!!

Have a great Wednesday night! Talk to you tomorrow for the second ever Theater Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday - 7.20.11

It's that time again! I think this is my favorite entry to write each week and I totally stole it from Rebekah. Oops... Oh well. Here's what I have been loving this past week!

1. Panera Coffee. Starting last Monday I have been going to Panera each morning to have coffee, some quiet time and to read my b.i.b.l.e. I am really enjoying the time since I am a morning person anyway. I have been going to Panera because it's on my way to work and there are too many distractions (like my bed, TV, dog, etc.) at my house. But I am also enjoying the hazelnut coffee! And when I really want to treat myself (or when I have a free one on my Panera card!) I will get a hazelnut latte. Mmmm...

2. Promotions. Not going to say much but I have worked really hard over the past year with this particular goal in mind. On Thursday I was promoted to Senior Operations Manager and it seriously just feels great to accomplish a goal like that!

^^New Email Signature^^

3. Moonlighting. Okay, it is not secret that I love anything from the 80's, fab clothes AND I love watching old TV shows. Well... I have found the trifecta and it even includes Bruce Willis, Cybill Shepherd and some serious sexual tension. O.M.G. I love this show. I bought the first three seasons on DVD. I couldn't stand it last night so I looked up when they finally get together so that I knew how many episodes I have to go. It's like I know where the finish line is so I have to watch all these other episodes as fast. as. possible. And I am loving every minute of it.
I want this dress. Shoulder pads and all.

4. All things turquoise and teal. Can't really explain it but if I were Picaso this would be my "Teal Period." It seems like everything I pick out lately is in this color group. Evidence:

Toes. Is this as creepy as I think?

Phone - current cover.
Necklace - BONUS Awkward Turtle pic!

5.  Countdown. Every day that goes by is a day I'm closer to seeing Will! Right now it's just seven days until I'm in the Rock town for a long weekend!!

That's all, folks. Loving life on this Wednesday!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It's Wednesday!! I love when the first week after a short week doesn't crawl by so first and foremost I am loving that it is Wednesday! But, on to the more fun things...

1. To be clear - I am NOT loving Will being out of town. However, I AM loving that it's kind of nostalgic to talk to him on the phone each night. We did the long distance thing for four years and it is amazing to me how familiar talking to Will on the phone at night feels. It has been so long since that phase of our lives and relationship but it's all coming rushing back and I am actually enjoying it. I am also a silver lining kind of person so I am sure part of it is me being slightly delusional and trying to find something positive.

I sent this picture to Will this past weekend just to say, "Hi, dad! We miss you." and I LOVE Dexter's expression.

2. I am loving Verizon Wireless! If you read my "ode to 501-425-3777" then you know that Will and I switched phone numbers. We did that because we were fed up with AT&T so we switched to Verizon. It was nerve-racking but totally paid off. My biggest issue with AT&T was that I didn't get service on I-freaking-40 between Nashville and LR unless I was driving through Jackson or Memphis. So. Frustrating. SO... we switched to Verizon and when I drove back from LR after the Fourth I listed to Pandora (streaming) the ENTIRE drive. It was heaven.

3. I am loving that Halsey is coming to visit me this weekend! I love having friends come to Nashville because (a) it is always great to see people I miss, (b) it is always great to see people I miss and not have to drive anywhere to do so and (c) it means I have an excuse to eat at some of my favorite places! Duh, it's always about food to some degree. This weekend we will be hitting Calypso Cafe, Newk's, possibly Taco Mamacita, and we'll for sure go see Horrible Bosses. So pumped! Can't wait to see (and clearly eat with) you, Hals!!

I love this picture of us! You make me laugh, Halsey. :-)

4. I am loving my mother-in-law! She just drove through town and I got to have lunch with her (and two others) and it is so great to see her even if it is SO brief. She is amazing and I don't deserve her. Oh, and she's taking care of my husband for the next five weeks so I'm thankful for that, too. Unless he comes home spoiled rotten, which is a possibility. But I asked her if she was going to spoil him and then send him home to me and she said, "I am going to TRY to act like a normal human being." :-) I love you, Carolyn! And I love how much you love Will!

At the Red Bar. Summer 2010.

Happy Wednesday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

1. Pandora Radio on my phone - How Great Thou Art station. Pandora is an amazing invention. I love that you can mark songs that you like and that you don't like and so the stations you create continue to evolve. I have some random stations - Defying Gravity, which plays Glee songs, Broadway songs and the occasional Disney song; Circus, which plays current hits mostly; Battlefield, which plays girlie anthem kind of songs; and How Great Thou Art, which plays Christian songs. Right now I am really loving being able to listen to all sorts of good for your soul music all day while I'm at work.

2. Google Reader - Okay, I started a Google Reader account a couple weeks ago and it is AMAZING. Basically, you subscribe to whatever blogs you follow regularly and it keeps them all in one place. So, when I log on it shows me all the blogs that have recent posts and I can scroll through and read them all at once. It's a great tool for the avid blog stalker and really easy to use - especially if you already have a Gmail account. Some of the blogs that I subscribe to (read: stalk) are... Boonies, Sugar Savvy, Ornamental Habit and Truthful Conversations.
3. Spending this last summer week with Will. I am enjoying every minute that I still have with Will in town this summer. We are going to Little Rock on Sunday for the Fourth and when I come home on Wednesday I will be coming home alone. :-( Will is working at a firm in Little Rock for six weeks and I will still be in Nashville since I have to work, too. I am not looking forward to him being gone so I am definitely (this week) loving that he's still here.

4. We're going to U2 on Saturday! I am loving that Will and I always have something fun to look forward to and right now it's the concert we're going to on Saturday night - U2!! Cannot wait. I know that one day down the road this one will be a "Memory Monday."

Happy Wednesday!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Here's what I'm loving this week!

Sunday School - Will and I have been going to Brentwood Baptist since we got married (Will went there during college, as well). We have LOVED it and our church is one of the big reasons that it would be really difficult to ever move away from Nashville. One of the things I love most about it is our Sunday School class. We are in a class of about eight young married couples and we really enjoy getting to talk about marriage, relationships, general goings on with a group of people who are in the same stage of life as we are. Love it.

Sunglasses - Can't move on. Still love these glasses. Here's hoping I get promoted this summer and celebrate by purchasing a pair of sunglasses that I don't need but really want.

Musicals! - My mom is coming to town this weekend and we are going to see The Color Purple musical on Friday night. A little over a month ago Kathleen invited me to go see Young Frankenstein with her and we had so much fun. I saw in the program that Les Miserables was going to be in town mid May so I also bought tickets for that for Will's anniversary present (will likes musicals fine but he LOVES Les Mis - love that about him). I had never seen it and it was AMAZING! I am still listening to the soundtrack on repeat. So... when I saw that The Color Purple was coming I knew that I should email my mom to see if she wanted to come to town for it. We both love the movie and I've heard the stage/musical version is ridiculously awesome. So pumped!

Diet Coke - I am trying to quit drinking so much DC. It's going OKAY. I don't know why but I just can't give it up completely. So now I am on a "only one a day - just in the morning" DC diet. Yesterday I also had a DDP at lunch and I'm still feeling guilty about it. Ugh! I need to be in AA for Diet Coke abusers. I guess that would be called DCA. Ha.

Happy Hump Day!!
